now that i’ve scrapped the flash web site design for something a little easier to maintain, i guess i’ve gotta give you the rundown on me.

name: sean
what do you do: p.r. guy-turned-journalist
from: rock hill, s.c.
live now: cardozo, in washington, d.c.

(those are the four questions that everyone in d.c. is asked when they attend a party. ‘what do you do’ is the one that many people will ask before they know your name.)

thumbnail sketch: grew up in the deep south, got out as soon as i could. worked for mci for eight years, then spent some time at two big p.r. firms here in d.c. before heading back to school for a career change. now i’m a journalist with one of the best beats in the area: takoma park, a town of about 18,000 people on the northeastern edge of washington. colorful, intelligent and progressive people who aren’t afraid to speak their minds. for a guy who likes to tell people’s stories, it couldn’t get any better for me.

my partner and i live in cardozo, a funky little neighborhood whose main attraction is u street northwest. now home to restaurants, bars and fun shops, it was one known as ‘black broadway,’ the social hub for america’s black culture in the early 20th century.

Author: Sean
