Death on a plate: raw, fried or boiled?

In today’s WaPo, David Nakamura writes about the Japanese appetite for one of the world’s most deadly foods, fugu, or blowfish.

I wonder how much of the allure of fugu is the fact that it could be deadly if not prepared correctly. It’s like a game of Russian roulette in your mouth, I guess. And, based on my own observations, a very Japanese pursuit.
