Back in the States, eh?

Completely uneventful trip home from Ontario today, thankfully. Though I can’t help but to share my encounter with the passport officer.

Yesterday, I wrote about the fact that when we travel to Canada, we can fill out just one immigration and customs form, but when entering the United States, we have to fill out separate documents.

So we get up to the passport control officer this morning (I always insist that we go up together, even though they’d prefer us to go up one at a time), and he looks at us. “Are you two family?” he asks.  (I didn’t even get the pun here until I just typed this!)

“Yes,” I replied, catching myself. “I mean, no, but…” The guy cuts me off.

“You live together, right?” he said, rather matter-of-factly. Guess he’s used to it, given the number of people who are going to Toronto to get married.
